I LOVE Valentine's Day!

Since Jesus came into my heart!
Since Jesus came into my heart!
Floods of joy o'er my soul
like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart.

~oOo~

In my heart there rings a melody
there rings a melody
with heaven's harmony;
In my heart there rings a melody
there rings a melody
of LOVE.

~oOo~

My Jesus, I love thee,
I know thou art mine,
For thee all the follies of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Saviour art thou
If ever I loved Thee,
My Jesus, 'tis now!

Noami and Noah in their orchestra class

Sophia in hers.
There will be a solo concert tomorrow night
which, we are all looking forward to.

In between classes, Sophia and I went shopping for a gift for her teacher.

We finally decided on a white chocolate dipped strawberry and a card.

It was a grey day, but a happy day.
The children came home to a Valentine package from their Auntie Lisa ~ gum balls and jelly beans.

We piled into "Old Faithful" with  a prayer and drove to a friend's house.
So thankful for the evergreen trees on these grey winter days.

Craft supplies were prepared for our arrival.

And so were LOVELY treats!
I managed to get a picture before they were all devoured.

Yummy fruit smoothies and kabobs

All the young ladies (may I include myself in that group?) were very productive.
Aren't some of these cards so sweet?
I like some of the funny ones with googly eyes glued onto pictures of different animals.

The boys plays cowboys and pirates outside, coming in for  "provisions" as needed. LOL

After a yummy meal of Chicken tacos (what else?) we enjoyed
Tea and Cake!

Then it was off to church to hear some interesting and encouraging
reports from some missionaries from China.

What a day! Full of love and gifts and fun. But that was YESTERDAY.

Today,

Fried eggs and toast in the shape of a heart.
Lovey hymns sung out to the Lord.
Valentines and balloons passed all around.

Hope you all have a beautiful day.

We love Him because He first loved us.
I pray that you are filled with the knowledge of the
intimate and deep love of
JESUS today.

In all things give thanks

Today is the 11th day that I have been in pain.  It's manageable now.
Maybe I am getting used to it or maybe, it is getting better.

Such simple things we take for granted.

Are you pain free?

Be thankful.

Are you in pain?

Be thankful.

This is the lesson that I am learning.

I have a Father in Heaven that knows my needs. (Matt 6:32)
He knows my pain.
Nothing is hidden from Him. (Psalm 139)
He loves me
and He loves you.

But there is more.

"Old Faithful," our van, is not so faithful anymore.
The Santos Cottage seems more like a closet than a cottage,
what with these children growing so fast. (smiles)

Mr. Santos has made some executive decisions for The Times that are uncomfortable,
but as the head of the house, he deems what's best.

Big changes are looming on the horizon for our family.

Unknowns.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1Thess 5:18

So often I pray, "Thy will be done as it is in heaven." There are times when I am a big part of God's will being done or not.  It is His will that I give thanks ~ in everything.

Yesterday, I had just ended my morning prayers with these same words, "Thy will be done."

I got out of bed to begin my day and I was completely pain free. What a joyous feeling! I set to work right away full of ambition for all my plans.  Only ten minutes into my day and the pain returned with a vengeance.  All my plans went "poof."

Immediately, I remembered my prayer.

Would I obey? Would I participate in God's will being done?

I prayed, "Thank you Lord for your will" I heard the scriptures repeated in my soul, "A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps."

~oOo~

This is the typical scene in the morning.  Naomi has been trained to keep her sewing supplies and projects in one small basket. We have all been trained to keep our "stuff" clean and neat.

But sometimes work and projects aren't finished by lunch.  This used to be a problem for me.
Where would we eat? Clean up time, again?
I envied every school room or big house with room enough to spread out.

One day, I was convicted that I need to teach my children to find solutions rather than dwell on problems ~ to be thankful.

Now, when school work goes beyond the lunch hour, we just have a picnic in the living room.

Life can be pleasant in a closet cottage.

How are you learning to be thankful in everything?

FOR TODAY

February 2, 2013

Outside our window...

I am thankful...

For color, especially in winter. See how our red chairs stand out on a grey afternoon?

I am wearing...

A brown turtleneck sweater with a suede skirt and heavy socks.  It's cold today.
I am also wearing a soft pink lap quilt for comfort.

From the kitchen..

a bacon, pepper, havarti quiche with jasmine tea and orange slices.

I am learning...

not to return evil for evil.  I have been convicted over and over with this.  It is quite humbling to realize how often I choose to fight instead of 'overcoming evil with good' as the Bible commands us to do.

For instance, when I am confronted with evil in my children, (perhaps they are bickering or being selfish as we all are wont to do at times) yelling or criticism is returning evil for evil!

I am creating...

a dress.  The progress the girls have made in their sewing class has inspired me.  This is the pattern I just ordered.  All I need to do now is pick a fabric.  You can click on the link below to see other variations.

I am going...

to be thankful for this day even though I am greatly desiring SUNSHINE!!!

I am warm
well provided for
safe
able
and most importantly...

God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6

I am remembering...

a recent shopping trip with the children.  They wanted to spend some of their allowance.

Naomi bought balloons.  Such simple things make her happy.

Noah bought himself a new hat.

And Sophia spent her OWN money on these magazines ~ an early Valentine gift for me.

She is so kind and generous.  (Kisses to you, lovey!)

I am reading...

Actually I am soon to begin reading...

Around the house...

It is very quiet. Occasionally, I can hear the rooster crow from the ranch next door.  Mr. Santos took the children on a short day trip and the silence is a bit lonely and energizing at the same time.

I think it is good to just sit quietly to clear the mind.

"Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalm 46:10

A quote to share...

“There are certain things we must not pray about - moods, for instance. Moods never go by praying, moods go by kicking.”

~ Oswald Chambers

Some of my favorite things...

Memories of my mother

A few plans for the month:

Watch some of my Spring bulbs pop up
Celebrate Valentine's Day for fun. I like that day. I have great plans for my lovies.
Practice speaking kindly and kicking out all bad moods.  A grey day is not an excuse to be grumpy (that is a note to myself)

Enjoy every peaceful day I have.  Isn't the world so upside down these days?

Will this be the month that Jesus returns?

Some picture thoughts to share:

the view from my chair as I type this daybook out.

I brought the flowers and oranges home from the grocery store for a bit of sunshine.
