Noah: A shuffle. Can I have a shuffle?
Mom: What's a shuffle?
Noah: You know! These are shuffles! (pointing to the dark chocolate mounds in the crystal candy dish)
Mom: OOOhhh - Truffles!
At a recent potluck we enjoyed Hot Chocolate:
Naomi and Noah pulled on my skirt beckoning me to bend down to their level. "What is it?" I asked. "Momma," they whispered, "Can we have some mushrooms in our hot chocolate?"
"You mean marshmallows?"
The things we know that we take for granted our children know:
Sophia, age 8, was answering a little survey from her cousin. One of the questions was "Do you wear contacts?" She had to ask, "What are contacts, Mom?"
"They're glasses that you wear right on your eyeball instead of your nose."
"Oh my gosh! WOW! Really? I definitely don't wear contacts! But Mom, do you know anyone who does?"
Noah counting during school:
"twenty-six, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-NINE, NINETY!"
Mom: "I don't think so, punkin."
