MISSION MONDAY

Out in the highways and byways of life, many are weary and sad; Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife, making the sorrowing glad.
Make me a blessing, make me a blessing, Out of my life May Jesus shine;Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,Make me a blessing to someone today.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
This has been our focus today for Mission Monday. There is a small group of flowers just picked over by one sister...the other sister wants to make a bouquet also. Greater love would split the bouquet. How hard! There are only two swings in the tree and three kids to play. Greater love would wait patiently for their turn and offer the first turn to a brother or sister. How hard! Husband walks in the door tired and grumpy and makes demands. Greater love would smile and answer those demands with gentleness. How hard!
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
The nearest opportunity to do good is in our own homes.
Mission Monday Prayers:
Pray for the church: That we would have discernment concerning these last days and not be afraid to trust and obey the Lord...even in the face of persecution.
Pray for your children: That they would have vision. That they would seek those things which are above where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God and that they would set their affection on things above and not on things on the earth.
Pray for your neighbors: That the Lord would present an opportunity for you to be a blessing and a Godly example to them.
Happy Mission Monday!

Summer Pleasures

Well, the warm weather is finally here (Sophia has been anxiously waiting)...at least for this weekend. Mamapua got me wanting some fresh strawberries, so we headed over to Sequim to pick some. I think Sequim is pretty close to paradise...just a hop away from the rain forest, it is beautiful and fertile farmland right on the edge of the ocean...What more could you want? Here we are picnicking before we start our picking...hey that sounds like a tongue twister :)

Rolling lavender fields and ripening artichokes at the same farm

Yummy! It was hard to stop picking...we could have done it all day. It was a strawberry milkshake, strawberry shortcake and strawberry syrupy pancake weekend. MMMmmm.

After a "hard" days picking we were off to the beach to collect treasures, build forts and rest.

Later in the weekend, the girls helped their dad wash the car - Noah helped too...in his own way :). The reward for the girls was a fun soak in the sprinklers. Summer Days...

Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 106:1
These days seem so precarious...It is good to take time out and give thanks for simple pleasures.

MISSION MONDAY

Thank you for joining me in the Santos first official Mission Monday. What is our mission? To be a blessing! We sang the following hymn at church yesterday and it really sent the message home for me. Let's outdo one another in blessing others.

Out in the highways and byways of life, many are weary and sad; Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife, making the sorrowing glad.

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing, Out of my life May Jesus shine; Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray, Make me a blessing to someone today.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love; Tell of His pow'r to forgive: Others will trust Him if only you prove true ev'ry moment you live.

Give as 'twas given to you in your need; Love as the Master loved you; Be to the helpless a helper indeed; Unto your mission be true.

Today, a good friend came over and together we were able to be a blessing to someone else. We cleaned the house and made lunch for a new mother. How fun it was! In fact, later I cleaned my own house and folded my laundry with so much joy!...Thankful that I had energy and good health to get my jobs done. Another thing we will be doing every Mission Monday is praying.

This week:

Pray for Vision Forum. Their building (which they own debt-free) is being confiscated by their city government through eminent domain. Pray that they will continue to impact our culture for righteousness even in light of this "attack". Pray also that God would provide for them a solution. Pray how you might be used to give financially.

Pray for fathers. They have a great position of God-given power and authority often poorly understood and poorly lived. Pray that they may be true priests in their homes, standing ready to sacrifice. Pray that they would not provoke their children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Pray for wives. Pray that they would submit themselves unto their own husbands as unto the Lord. Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Happy Mission Monday!

Happy Fathers Day!

We celebrated our Mr. Santos yesterday with an outing to the beach. The kids sang "Happy Fathers Day To You" and recited their list of thankful things to their daddy. Naomi was thankful that Daddy always tickled her. Sophia was thankful that Daddy took her to special places. Noah was thankful that Daddy wrestles with him. They all said that they were thankful dad works so hard to take care of us. I was proud of them. It was really a pleasant time. I think Mr. Santos must have been in need of some ego boosting and loving because he lavished back on us a bunch of laughs and good times. Maybe honoring dad should be a more regular thing around the Santos household.

Nothing pleases Mr. Santos more than a nice bonfire.

Even though the sun was still high, it was actually after 7:30 p.m.

I personally want to thank all the "fathers" in my life...my uncles and my Don. You have been there with hugs and money and rides and teaching me how to drive, how to be hospitable and how to play cards. :) My life has really been enriched and blessed because of you. I love you and Happy Fathers Day.

But I just love it so!

A change in circumstances can be so traumatic. No money, Poor health, family feuds, church issues...even politics...can cause stress. This must be because our feet are heavy in this world. We think this is it - but it is not.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Amy Charmichael wrote "We must look upon the world, with all its delights and all its attractions, with suspicion and reserve. We are called to a higher Kingdom, we are touched with a diviner Spirit. It is not that He forbids us this or that comfort or indulgence; it is not that He is stern, demanding us to follow a narrow path. But we who love our Lord and whose affections are set on Heavenly things voluntarily and gladly lay aside the things that charm and ravish the world, that, for our part, our hearts may be ravished with the things of Heaven that our whole being may be poured forth in constant and unreserved devotion in the service of the Lord who died to save us.”

These are difficult days. Look up and take off those heavy shoes that keep you where you don't belong.
